Anticipating surgery can be stressful, and part of the anxiety can arise out of not fully understanding out-of-pocket expenses associated with a proposed surgery. At The Surgery Center at TGH Brandon Healthplex, we believe it is important to make patients aware of their potential financial expense prior to their procedure.

One of our insurance verification specialists will contact you if there are any anticipated out-of-pocket expenses associated with your planned procedure. Please realize charges for your procedure at The Surgery Center are separate from your surgeon’s charge as well as any anesthesiologist and/or pathologist charges which may be incurred. The Surgery Center collects all co-payments or deductible amounts on the day of your procedure. If your procedure is not covered by insurance, full payment is required at the time of service unless other arrangements are made in advance. The Surgery Center does not offer charity care or financial hardship discounts. If you are unable to cover the cost of your surgery, please contact The Surgery Center at 813-660-6000 prior to your date of surgery so further arrangements can be made. 

In the event we are out-of-network with your insurance carrier, The Surgery Center will match your plan’s in-network benefits to eliminate any increased cost for you.

Patients, or their legal guardians, are responsible for payment of facility services. As a courtesy, The Surgery Center will bill your primary and secondary insurance carriers for you. Please bring your insurance cards with you on the day of surgery.

The Outpatient Surgery Center at TGH Brandon Healthplex accepts cash, checks, major credit cards, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and care credit as financing options. Our online Bill Pay service provides is convenient and quick, allowing you to easily pay your bill online.

Collection Policy

Your insurance benefits will be verified prior to your surgery date, and you will be notified of the payment due based on expenses not covered by your insurance, including deductibles and co-payments. Payment for out-of-pocket expenses will be expected prior to or on the day of the procedure.

Uninsured and cash-paying patients will be required to pay for services prior to or on the date of your procedure. Patients, or their legal guardians, are responsible for payment of facility services. As a courtesy, The Surgery Center at TGH Brandon Healthplex will bill your primary and secondary insurance carriers for you. Please bring your insurance cards with you on the day of surgery. The Surgery Center at TGH Brandon Healthplex accepts cash, checks, major credit cards, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and care credit as financing options. Your Surgery Center Fee Includes:

  • Medical and surgical care
  • Cost of routine equipment and supplies
  • Cost of drugs administered (including anesthesia drugs)
  • Operating room time
  • Recovery room services

Anesthesia, pathology, surgeon, and physician consultation fees are not included in the Center’s fee and may or may not participate with the same health insurers or health maintenance organizations as the surgery center.

Prior to your procedure, you may request from the surgery center and other health care providers a more personalized estimate of charges and other information. The estimate is based on your current insurance benefits. Patients should contact each health care practitioner who will provide services in this surgery center to determine the health insurers and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) with which the health care practitioner participates.

Following your procedure, upon request, you may request an itemized bill of charges.

Financial Assistance Arrangements

If your physician or the physician’s office staff have agreed to provide special financial assistance to you for a procedure the physician wants to schedule at this facility, please contact us. If you are unable to cover the cost of your surgery, please contact us at 813-660-6000 prior to your date of surgery so further arrangements can be made.

Charity Care

The Surgery Center at TGH Brandon Healthplex does not offer charity care or financial hardship discounts. If you are unable to cover the cost of your surgery, please contact The Surgery Center at 813-660-6600 prior to your date of surgery so further arrangements can be made.
